A Healthy Mouth Can Depend on What You Put In It

Feeding your smile is very important to keeping your mouth healthy. No food will change the inherent color of your teeth but there are foods that can promote non-staining/cleansing properties and gingival health.

Those foods include two groups. The first has scrubbing properties or don't contain staining components, such as carrots, celery, sesame seeds and apples. The second group promotes gum health and helps prevent tooth decay by helping to reduce the formation of decay-causing bacteria or acid formation. These include broccoli, onions, shiitake mushrooms, wasabi and green tea.

While nothing works better for keeping your teeth and gums healthy than timely dental visits, you can help maintain their sparkle with a well planned diet.
