Invisalign Puts Your Smile In Line

Find out more about how to straighten your teeth the invisible way.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign are clear, nearly invisible braces that use a series of removable plastic aligners that look similar to whitening trays. These Invisible Bracesaligners are custom-made to fit the top and bottom row of teeth to help slowly move teeth into their proper position.

How does Invisalign straighten teeth?

Through thermodynamics, each aligner is customized to move certain teeth at specific times during your treatment to help you achieve the desired look you want for your smile. Each aligner is tailored based on your Augusta dentist’s specific measurements taken from the impressions of your smile.

What are the advantages of Invisalign?

Invisalign is an ideal option for teens and adults who want to get a straighter smile without dealing with a mouth full of metal. Since traditional braces can feel rather cumbersome, painful and awkward, especially as we get older, we are less likely to opt for this line of treatment. However, Invisalign makes it so that anyone can get a straighter smile without having to wear regular metal braces.

Furthermore, since Invisalign is removable you don’t have to worry about making any changes to your diet. With traditional braces there is a laundry list of restrictions to your diet; however, you don’t have to worry about what you eat while wearing Invisalign. Just remove your aligners before eating or drinking and then be sure to brush your teeth and rinse out your aligners before putting them back in. It’s that simple!

What should I expect when I wear Invisalign? How long is the treatment?

Besides taking off your Invisalign to eat, drink, brush and floss, you should wear your braces the rest of the time in order to ensure that your treatment goes according to you and your Augusta dentist’s plan. You should wear your braces for about 22 hours out of the day.

How long your treatment is will depend on the severity of your dental problems; however, for adults the average length of treatment is about a year. For teens, this is usually a bit longer and can take up to two years.
