What You Need to Know About Same Day Crowns

This revolutionary new crown-fabricating technology eliminates multiple visits and creates dental crowns while you wait.

If you’re suffering with a cracked or chipped tooth that needs a dental crown, you may be preparing yourself for the procedure. After all, it will take multiple visits and even a temporary crown before the permanent crown is fabricated. The whole process might even seem a bit overwhelming; however, your Augusta dentist is happy to make this process a whole lot easier on you withDental Crowns same-day dental crowns.

What are same-day crowns?

Instead of dealing with a temporary crown, same-day crowns make getting a permanent crown easier. Our revolutionary equipment, the E4D Dentist®, utilizes CAD/CAM technology to create same-day crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays all in one visit.

What will my same-day crown visit be like?

Instead of taking impressions the traditional way, with our technology we can employ a laser scanner to take digital images of the damaged tooth to provide a faster and more precise impression. The scanner is safe on patients and gives us a better impression of your smile.

Then, while you’re in the chair, we will upload the images of your tooth to our computer where we will use our CAD technology to design your porcelain crown. Once we have the perfect design, the CAM technology will create the crown as you wait. When the fabrication is complete, we will bond the dental crown to your tooth to give you a fully restored smile.

What are the advantages of same-day crowns?

First, and probably most obviously, these crowns only take about an hour to create rather than a week. Plus, you won’t have to worry about wearing a temporary crown during that time. Temporary crowns can be troublesome and more fragile than regular crowns, making it easier to damage or crack before you even get your permanent crown. No one wants to deal with several trips to the dentist. Same-day crowns eliminate the need for multiple visits and can restore your tooth in just one hour. Plus studies have found that these restorations are just as reliable as traditional crowns.

Following a good oral care routine and visiting your dentist every six months for a checkup will also ensure that your same-day crowns last as long as they can. If you are thinking about same-day crowns for restoring your damaged tooth, give us a call and let us know. We would be happy to set you up with an appointment.
