How long does it take to get an implant after the tooth is extracted?
There are 2 basic types of implant placement surgery in dentistry.
- Immediate implant surgery where in, the implant is placed the same day as the extraction of the tooth the implant is replacing.
- Traditional implant surgery most commanly used method, allows 4-6 months minimum, post-extraction of the tooth the implant is reaplacing.
There are many factors that dictate which method is used, such as infection present around the tooth, location of the tooth, quality & quality of bone int the area, esthetic importance, etc. A pre-operative appointment is used to evaluate and discuss all of the details.
